Climbing the mountains gives us sense of accomplishment. It also provides own health status. if you can reach the top then you beat your own expectations and self underestimation. India is a heaven for every level of trekker. Mountain climbers are like every one of us but everyone cannot climb mountains. Every Bahubali, Salman & Tiger fan requires little or more training. We would like to give a wake up call to every person who wish to climb a mountain.

Trekking is one of those things where over confidence will not only shock you but also it will ruin the trip for everyone else. Hence it is recommended to understand your body limits before planning the trip.

1) Invest in Trekking shoes

This might be the best part for the ladies and shopping enthusiasts. When you will be climbing small or big mountain, you will require trekking shoes. These shoes will decide how you will feel after you wake up in the morning. cheaper quality or normal sports shoe will give you massive leg pain during or after the trek. Walk in your new trekking shoes while taking stairs or go to park in it. You require plenty of practice walking in the shoes before trek to avoid unpleasant experience

2. Stairs Stairs and Stairs

Stair climbing is very good for building up calves and quads. Everyday climbing stairs will help you build your legs for trekking. You can even go further to track number of steps you climbed nowadays with various fitness trackers. Use trek pants to familiarize yourself of sweating and itching. You have to find ways to resolve itching quickly else it will become very painful experience.

3. Mix up your training

When you are on trek, it is highly likely that your walking pattern will not be on the same level. You will either climb up or go down or step on stones on along the way. Considering unbalanced and different levels of walking, mix up your trekking similar to the trek you planned.
You must prepare your whole body with high preference on feet, ankles and knees. Physical fitness is extremely important for the stress you’ll experience on the trip.

4. Walk, climb and go down in rain

Most Indian trek’s get magical during monsoon. They also get risky & dangerous at the same time. Put on your trekking shoes and go for a walk, climb & go down while raining. This will prepare you on how to adjust your body and walk cautiously when time comes. Normal mountain terrain becomes dangerous during rain so take things seriously.

5. Train with a backpack
You will always carry small backpack on almost all of our trekking trips. Backpack will have all your essentials like your food, water, camera, snacks, sunscreen, water and wet-weather gear. So make sure you carry the same backpack with same essentials for at least 2-3 weeks. To familiarize with weight you will carry. This is required especially if you plan to trek during monsoon. Wet backpack weight will increase and your shoulders will start to itch if both are not covered. you really want to include additional water bottles to increase the weight during practice. All this training will make the eventual trek feel like the same exercise with memories.

6. Keep the tank fueled

It’s important you’re carrying enough water and food during a trek (hydration is key!). Nuts, fruits, muesli bars and sweets are all good, they are quick sources of energy and protein; keep these healthy snacks in your backpack. Also, carry steel knife, fork & spoon, empty reusable water bottle; mountain streams are usually a great source of fresh water, however, carrying 2-5 liter water will be a good idea. When you’re in training-mode, try to eat and drink ‘on the go’ as much as you can, so your body can get used to digesting during strenuous exercise.

7. Start small

Although you will want to set your bar high. Still, don’t do that. Find that small mountain somewhere and plan for that. Bigger the better strategy is really really bad when it comes to trekking. Every Indian state has some smaller, taller and tallest trekking points. Simply find that simple 2 hour trek and get going.

Trekking is tremendous fun. Every time you complete a trek and return to base or hotel, It gives a sense of achievement. Excitement & joyful feelings will over take your brain when you are up on the mountain or at the river bank or at the lake. India is one of the best places for all types of trekking.
