1. Get yourself a Type-C drive

Earlier there were portable HDD or laptops all together. we have come quiet far from that. We have Type-C pen drives or Solid State Drives. Now we have up to 1 TB pen drives, chose according to your budget. Pen drive is recommended because of its portable size and ease of carrying. Same goes to memory cards. SD cards are plenty in the market with storage up to 1 TB. SD cards are less recommended due to possibility of losing it. SD cards writing & reading speed depends on class, so if you buy cheaper one with lower class then usage experience will be painful. It is always recommended to take back up of the devices you will carry. Email yourself critical information (contacts, passport, visas, and reservations) so that if something happens to your things, you can easily retrieve certain information while you’re still travelling.

4. Consider Easy to Carry Backpack safe

More devices means more valuable things, so it might be worth getting yourself a new smaller backpack to carry everywhere. Anti-theft bags are not worth in India because of no side pockets. Easy to carry backpack are much more convenient to roam around the city or visiting museum. Be considerate to what you carry in your backpack. There are plenty of thief & burglars who can read the any bag just by looking at it. Less valuables are always best while roaming around the city. Bonus points if you invest in one that’s waterproof as well.

5. You MUST get travel insurance

This is new in India. No Indian traveler has ever thought there might be a health hazard while climbing mountain or vacation on the beach. What will you do if someone steals your things altogether? That’s where travel insurance swoops in. Travel insurance is the new essential on every Intrepid trip. It is recommended to choose coverage that protects your belongings, health and safety. Make sure you read through the fine print to ensure your valuables are covered; that might mean upgrading your plan, but if it covers your cameras, laptop, tablets, and mobile phone then it’s probably worth it.

6. Be wary of public internet connections

Every Indian knows it, we read it, some of us have experienced issues and yet most people do it anyways. That is connecting to public or unknown WIFI. Unsecured connections means that the usual security measures and encryption of the wifi connection are not protecting your data. That puts your personal information at risk to hackers or whoever else is snooping on the same network. Most argue that what information hacker will still? I have nothing. well, you are wrong.

Mobile phone is a necessity of today’s world. your phone is linked with bank sms, social media, email accounts, work network and hundreds of apps. No one knows which information hacker will use it against you. When you receive an unsecured connection notification, just go offline and put your phone on airplane mode. It’s better to wait until you’re on a secure network than to have your information hacked. Trust us, whatever you wanted to go online for, can wait if it means protecting your data.

7. Buy RFID protected Wallet

8. Don’t bring too many valuables with you

Always figure out what is the purpose of your trip? is it lay low and relax or capture videos & photos? whatever it may be, pack up your gadgets, valuables and cash accordingly. It is always advised to carry what is required & multi-purpose and NOT what all you desired. Sometimes the best thing to do is leave them at home. You won’t need to be constantly connected because private tours provide guides, boat tours will risk your valuable to get wet and many other scenarios.
